My friend has this terrible habit of making fun of mentally challenged people, as he so kindly refers to them as retards. For instance he threw food on the ground just so one of the MH kids could come over pick it up and eat it. He did this several times and he says, quote on quote, "they are a race, a disease". please help me find a way to tell this kid who says hes a christian, that its a sin to make fun of someone, in a mean way, thats mentally challenged. I'm looking specifically for a Bible verse that will persuade this immature boy that he is doing something that is both equally immature and wrong.

so many, I could never list them here.

ask him if he thinks Jesus would treat them this way.
if he says no, then tell him he is supposed to be imitating Christ in his life.
if he says yes, then tell him he knows nothing about Jesus.

"Freedom is doing whatever we want as long as we're not bothering others..." Do NOT tell him:"Do not do this, it's a sin, god's not gonna love you, you're going to hell etc..." Find a way to make him realize the strenght these people have to cope with their problems and live their life... Each of us can have an accident, but we never stop from being humans... Maybe letting him meet a mentally challenged person is a good idea... Hope I helped

I think you will find that he is acting like allot of God's children would act in the OT.

Have you considered asking him to try casting demons out of them. That is what the people who wrote the NT would have tried to do.

You need to stop hanging around this guy, he is a reprobate and doesn't deserve friends, its one thing to make fun of people, its another to openly ridicule them and cause them harm. My guess is he will make a great elder or deacon in some strict denomination some day.

As I understand the Reference in 2 Kings 2:23 it is about a similar sort of action, where the Youths picked on a Bald person, mocked him, and were cursed. I think that the implication is that any sort of mocking in that way, like what you note, is not good and right:

Why are you friends with someone like that? You know people associate you with the people you hang around with. Do you want to be known as an asshole? Ya, I didn't think so. Go find a new friend.

maybe dont go the bible way, tell him, "you are a real A$$ and I cannot respect myself if I continue to be a friend and hangout with you, until you grow up and stop being an A$$ good -bye"

He knows it is a sin. I would simply tell him I don't want to associate with a person like him and then follow through.

It is very unchristian to make fun of other people's misfortune. You should remind him that God is watching us and He will judge all of us one day...

I'm wondering why someone who clearly has different values than you is your friend. You deserve better friends!
