No. I can say with almost full confidence that the cage is too small, the bars are inappropriate (as another answerer said - galvanized wire can cause the bird to get extremely ill or die from contact to it and licking it), perches won't fit appropriately, and it is not a suitable parrot cage. There's no question as to why the poor thing's unhappy.

If you don't want to dish out the money for a proper cage, do you and the parrot a favour and return it. If the parrot's unhappy, that just means you'll be dealing with more and more unhappy, disruptive, unpleasant behaviour and, well, I don't have to say why the parrot would be happier.

Otherwise, please go out and buy a powder coated, or better yet, stainless steel cage with appropriate bar spacing to your parrot's size that's at LEAST twice the size of the parrot with both wings fully spanned. While you're there, get some perches; not the straight dowel ones, but ergonomic natural wood, textured, cement, and rope perches plus at least 15 toys (you don't have to get all 15 at once.. but make sure you have an ample supply of different toys) to be rotating in and out of the cage at least every week. Constant mental stimulation like that is a key if you don't want a neurotic, screaming, squawking, plucking, self mutilating, bitey parrot.

Parrots need lots of room. Especially if it the big kind. If your hutch has wood your parrot will eat its way out. Also, ive found that if the bars on their cage are real small they can't see out good and they hate that. If the cage is made of chicken wire or thin wire your gonna have a loose parrot! they can eat out of almost anything. You need to get a cage made for parrots. Try ebay or fleamarkets or yardsales. Or better yet, petsmart.

Another dangerous thing about keeping a parrot in a rabbit hutch: zinc poisoning. If the wire is galvanized, and the bird chews on it (and all parrots love to chew), it could make the bird seriously ill.

@ gobble gobble: rabbits are actually not terrible unfavorable pets if htey are remarkable cared for. i come across my rabbits cuter and greater impressive than my dogs and cat, and that i will particularly spend 5 minutes with out cuddling my toddler bunnies. all rabbits will do positive in a hutch as long as this is saved extremely clean, dry, ventilated, and shielded from the climate. in case you have a hutch with a wood floor or a super kind of wood in it, attempt to get your rabbit to apply a muddle container. if he pees on the wood it is going to soak in and launch risky ammonia. so attempt to maintain the wood dry and clean. no count if this is a cord bottomed cage then this would possibly not likely be an argument. for the period of the winter, supply a wood roof to the cage if it would not already have one. insulate the climate and back of the cage by using layering cardboard and plastic trash bags. create a trash bag flap over the front of the cage, that way you will nevertheless get a splash ventilation. whilst this is chilly keep the hutch as dry as conceivable, if the rabbit gets moist from rain or from its pee it ought to get chilled and die. make beneficial it is not uncovered to any snow, rain, or sleet. you are able to supply a small heating mat in case you will locate get entry to to an outlet, however the rabbit will bite on the cord no count if this is interior the cage in any respect so use warning. additionally make beneficial the rabbit can flow off the heating mat if it gets to heat. for the period of the summer season you will desire to be careful because of the fact hutches gets heat rapid. for the period of the favorite days use frozen water bottles to relax the rabbit. it rather is nice to to apply a fan to get the air shifting additionally. followers that mist paintings super. as for breeds, get something in the direction of the greater suitable end, so it may maintain physique warmth nicely, except you're in florida or something, then it would not certainly count. a rex would be positive, i'd do finished length quite than a mini rex, inspite of the undeniable fact that this is as much as you. rex dont' have thick fur nonetheless so which you will would desire to be greater suitable careful to maintain it heat interior the winter.

I'm not surprised he's unhappy! He probably can't stretch his wings. Imagine yourself locked up in a room roughly 2ft by 2ft by 6ft high with bars on one side. Now you know how he feels.
