I am stripping my hair, because for the longest time I have dyed my hair burgundy, but last week I decided to try color streaks, bad idea my roots were orange. Now I am stripping and coloring brownish red. I hope it works. Anyone tried before? Or do this often at home? I use home dye regularly, burgundy color.)

ok....put the color down and invest in a good stylist that specializes in color correction...you are going to fry your hair right off your head if you continue to strip your hair...when you strip..the chemical is basically a bleach...if you decide to soak your socks in bleach too long...you end up with holes in your socks...its the same thing with hair...you are asking for trouble withhair...your roots are orange because you either did not leave the streaks in long enough and your underlying pigment in your hair (which is orange) has been exposed...your hair goes through about 7 different stages before you can get it blonde...orange is the hardest stage for your hair to life through and its basically stuck there...I would suggest going to a professional that knows what he or she is doing before putting any more chemicals on your head...be very careful...good luck

Color stripper only works if the color is darker than your natural hair. If you are light brown or blonde it may work ok, however, you'll never be able to remove all the color. If the Burgundy color is lighter than your natural color, stripping it won't work. It sounds like you might need to see a professional for this job because of the orange regrowth. Even if you can successfully remove the Burgundy color, the orange regrowth will still be there. Unfortunately, you can't just slap some brown haircolor over it all and have it turn out the same color.

I've done it before all with products to use at home and it worked fine (pretty much with those exact colors too). Stripping it can be a little tricky though, so make sure you read and follow the directions very carefully.
