Thats really not that much Synthroid (I take 125). It takes several weeks before her TSH will normalize so she just needs to be patient.

I had the eye twitching before I went on thyroid medication. It was a symptom of having a underactive thyroid.
My TSH when I started on Levoxyl was 6.8. I was on Levoxyl for about a year. I started on 50 mcg's of Levoxyl. It lowered my TSH down to recommended levels (1.0) but it did nothing for the symptoms. I eventually had Cytomel added to the Levoxyl and it helped with about 50% of the symptoms. My final dose on the combo was 75 mcg's of Levoxyl and 5 mcg's of the Cytomel. After 2 years on the combo I wanted to try something else and switched to Armour. I've been on Armour for 3 years now and it has helped with almost every symptom.
Advice for your Mom...... (1) always test first thing in the morning (2) Know what your TSH is and make sure its always under 2.0 (3) If after a year she still does not feel better ask to get a free t4 and free t3 blood test done along with the TSH. (4) If symptoms arent almost gone within a year on Synthroid look into Armour. (5) Learn as much as you can about hypothyroidism, as that's how to get the best care.

25 mcg is the lowest dose of medication and it is likely your mom has not found the correct dose. It may take months to get her at the right dose. She will need blood test every 4-8 weeks at first.
I am not sure how much use knowing what other people doses are without knowing their age and weight also. As you get older your body will need less.
I have no thyroid and my dose is about 80% my body weight in pounds, I am 40 years old. Also your mom will need less because her thyroid is partial functioning. My mother in law takes 50 mcg, do not know what her TSH was, she is 62 and I guess about 140 lbs.

It might be the stress of low thyroid that is making her eye twitch. Or maybe she is drinking too much coffee trying to perk up.
I think .125mcg is the most common dose for synthroid

TSH stands for Thyroid stimulation Hormone. If the TSH is high it show that there low levels of thyroid in the blood. Your body sees that there low levels of thyroid and produces thyroid stimulating hormone to cause your body to produce more thyroid. Having high or low levels of thyroid causes problems in the body

Hi there, my mom has the same thing- it took her nearly 2 years to get the medication right. She had to experiment with building it up slowly until she felt better- this should be done under the doctors guidelines only- just bear with it!

It's should be between .5 to 5.0
It will take time for the medication to work. And it usually requires dosage changes to find the right one for each patient. If she is feeling so bad, she needs to call her doctor.
