My kakarikis which are a mated pair have raised young before laid there first egg on the 21st of feb they hatch in 20 days but they have not hatched she did lay five eggs i have checked the eggs and they were all fertile however now they are dark and have got quite a weight to them do you think the chicks are still alive ?

I would wait a bit. If the hen didnt start sitting on the eggs until the last egg was laid you still could be in the window for them to hatch. Fertile eggs that are ready to hatch will feel heavy and be dark. I hope things go well!

just wait abit longer they can take up to 30 days if nothing ask you vet to come and have a look but if they are dark and heaver then thay are growing so don't worry yet just wait a bit !
