Heres what I need: Something that can slash, hack(iffy), cut, stab, easy to weild and wont break like the **** they sell on ebay, comfortable, Wont fricken rust, doesn't require constant sharpening. Sorry for the vulgarity, but I'm tired of buying knives. Other soldiers can probably atest to this feeling. Peace.

Randall Model 14, 8" ss better than any Kbar evr made. Kbar's rep is *****, Marines use it because it's Cheap.

Point is too high for proper thrusting jabs

Crossguard too thin, short

Fullers, aka "Bloodgrooves" weaken the blade

Leather handle is ***** when wet

Blade too thin, the Randall is almost 1/4" thick, wont bend

A Properly designed Bowie will have the wieght to chop, point to jab, edge to slash in a package that is superior, Randalls are that Package.

In 26 years, I've used Randalls for 23 of them, they've NEVER failed me in Field training or War.

Randalls are the Choice with Professionals, rather than issue ***** built by lowest bidder to an Outmoded Spec.

Secondary choice would be a Cold Steel Trailmaster, but whichever go with a Bowie style, Daggers are worthless except for puching holes in oil cans......

It is not as much the blade as it is your skill with the blade. I have seen a Kali Silat Guru use a rusty old piece of crap and beat easily more than one person with high quality knives using knife fighting techniques taught in the Phillipines and Malaysia. There are many good brands of knives, he preferred a butterfly knife that had the case upside down so the knife dropped into his hand when he opened the case.

The USMC fighting knife manufactured by Ka-Bar is absolutely the best knife you can buy, period. I used one during the Gulf War and was immensly pleased with it! The steel in the blade is so good that you can get it sharp enough to shave hair off your arm, and it holds the edge longer than any knife I've ever owned. It's tough, it's Parkerized so it won't rust, it's got a solid-tang construction so the blade won't break off at the hilt when you pry something with it....I just can't say enough good things about this knife!

I love the KA-BAR but the best is the SOG SEAL 2000, official knife of the US Navy SEALs.

Prices Range from $100 (Cabela's) to about $135 for the full sized (7")

Theres a reason why the standard Marine Corps Bayonet and Knife is a KABAR.

It will meet all of your needs, and blood wont make it rust! Proven!

i'd go for some of the newer k-bars. I have one that has a rubber handle and is desert tan, so it's good for taking on a deployment. it also has a hard plastic case that's alot more durable than the leather marine corps sh*t, also you can buy ones that don't have that MC insignia or anything on it.
