I saw an interview of the filmaker the other night. Nice fellow. Apparently backer of film insisted on getting several statastitions not just one, not taking any money for his part, insisted on thorough research, reasons for bones left there more to do with belief than science or history. Interesting.
If you are a Christain, how would you deal with it if it was proven absolutely, that it was Jesus of Nazareth? I am not saying that this evidance does that. However if it did, would you be able to adjust your faith and pray harder or go into a tail spin? Would Christian churches disband or evolve? Or, more than likely, rufute?

Excuse me Tribble, r u calling me satan? You poor thing. U c! This is exactly what concerns me about this sort of dogmatic thinking, it provokes violence and hatred. People like you are the closest thing to 'S'atan, that I know of.
Peace you knotted bundle of negativity.

I understood the DNA was to establish kinship amongst the different remains. The one Mary, Jesus and the boy were genetically related. The other Mary was only related to the boy (speculation the interview implied that)
I havnt' seen the movie yet. I am going to though.
One Mary, according to the interview, was a blood relative and the other was not. So viewed as a probable wife.
I do want to see the movie for myself.
I understand the resurrection part of Christianity is the biggest snag here from what I am reading. So for those of you who are Christians, were you only interested in getting that carrot? Nothing else?Sigh!

Semantic tactics don't serve this well. Robert u know what I am referring to and I at least am not judging, I am enquiring...even if I LEAN TO A VIEW OF MY OWN I AM NOT, RULING OUT ANY POSSIBILITY.

Hi, its more like 599/600 (99% chance) that it could be Jesus' tomb. There's one problem -- they all assume that multigenerational tomb all lived in the same era. Meaning some folks there could have been the great grandfather or great grandmother. There's no proof otherwise that they are immediately related. There is proof through DNA evidence that they are not immediately related and could possibly be living far from different ages. You see the tombs start at 1 century BC to 2nd century AD. That's a lot of time. If there's a single person that doesn't belong in the era (likely), then the math is now uncalculable because the odds are against it.
Also, this film was released without academic review. Now what the heck is that? Like Consumer Reports, they review products to see if it is safe and to see if the proper research has been done. In this case, scholars were not allowed to see the evidence or the hypothesis. They hired one scholar (Tabor) but he is a paid consultant who wanted to prove this tomb as Jesus' tomb since 1996. So he is biased.
There is hope however. A new book I heard about on the news the other day, combined with scholars, archaeologists, and scientists -- have now come to do an academic review of the film. This is what everyone has been waiting for. The book is called The Jesus Tomb: Is It Fact or Fiction? Scholars Chime In [isbn: 0978834690].

It would not change my belief system at all. I am a Morovingian. That means that if Jesus and Mary Magdalene married, and had children, then I and my children are descendents. If not, fine. Jesus the Christ had a code of ethics and a phylosophy which is unparrelled in History. I do not know just what might happen to Christianity, speficically Roman Catholicism. It would have no effect on me.

ya see if christians believed this, then that means their whole way of thinking has been wrong for thousands of years, so i tell you christians, no matter what kind of evidence you have, are not going to stand up and say that you are right, and they are wrong, that's just not going to happen anytime soon.
the bones and ossuaries found that these people are stating is jesus's family and possibly wife and kid. that contradicks the bible, that means he didn't die on the cross.
no christian is going against the bible! if they do, they think they will go to hell. me, i think, this is extraordinary, and it is possible that these are those bones, that they say they are.
but then again, i think he was married and had a family. back then, if you didn't get married by a certain age, they found that strange and made you or scrutinized your family.

To amuse the point, If Jesus' body is interred, it throws the entire idea of His Resurrection into doubt, which doesn't refute His dying for us, but sorta casts doubt into our own resurrections.
James Cameron has done quite a bit through the years to attempt to refute Christianity. This is just his latest incarnation. I'm not surprised, nor do I think any truth will come of this. We've disturbed a 2000-year-old merchant's grave is all.

We would refute the findings, what DNA are they testing, and what are the comparing it to? In order to properly analyze DNA you have to have something to compare it to. Since Jesus has no physical descendants, they have nothing to compare it to.
If it was the Tomb of the family, it would not have said brother of Jesus, mother of Jesus, that is not how it works. It would say Judas Bar Joseph(Judas son of Joseph) and so on. Also the tomb would not be in Jerusalem it would be in Nazareth.
There is a lot more against it, then there is for it.They got the numbers backwards in the report, they are more like 1 in 600 odds.

I totally believe that they found the remains of Yeshua(Jesus), and proved the MAN is dead and gone. I think this also proves that image on the shroud of Turin is not Yeshua, and I'm no saying that it is a fake, but just that it isn't Yeshua. Oh Yeah, DNA evidence is irrefutable.

How could they possibly prove something like that? I think religion would continue on as it always does. Facts and logic rarely seem to be a deterrent to religion.
