I recently lost 8 pounds through diet, and have 17 lbs to go to get to my goal weight. I have never worked out, but was pretty genetically blessed until my third child at 35 years....then it all went downhill. My husband said I'll feel and see a difference in 6 weeks, but that seems so far away. Especially, because after 30 minutes I want to barf! I know about nutrition, and eat very healthy and well. Thanks.

That depends on your diet. If you are a healthy eater and are burning more calories than you are consuming, you will lose weight. Most likely 5-7 lbs the first month (because it's a shock to the body) and then 1-2 lbs a week for the next monh. After that half a pound -1lb per week.

Keep in mind that ellipticals will help you burn weight, but they are not the best machine. They absorb a lot of the energy you would need if you were on a treadmill or bike. So, don't be surprsied if you can do an hour on an elliptical but can't run for more than 5 minutes. Ellipticals won't help you train that way.

Also, your exercise regime needs to be changed every 6 weeks or so or your body becomes used to it and depends on it and you will stop losing weight. Always mix it up. You don'tneed to work out every day either, or it is too much and once again your body depends on it. 4-5 times a week is enough. Do 30-45 minutes.

you say you're genetically 'blessed' well that's a good start right there.. don't get discouraged at the 6 weeks....- it's not that long when you think about it.... as for the 30 mins. a day that's perfect! but try to incorporate some weights - muscle burns calories/fat and of course the toning benefits - believe me - after 40 it's even more downhill and you'll have to always work at it - but if you make it fun and keep it 'mixed' up a bit you'll incorporate it into your lifestyle and really won't consider it a 'work out' .... good luck and again, don't get frustrated! you'll need to do something physical to maintain....

Depending how you set up the resistance on the machine, but even on the lowest you should be able to drop few lbs and get your body sculpted in 2-3 weeks.

you could speed up the process along with the eliptical training with some total body weight lifting routines. remember the more muscle you have the more calories you burn

all depends on how intense you work out on it really....meaning you shouldn't be able to carry on a cell phone conversation while riding on the elliptical...you should feel like your getting a workout
