Do you parents take your preschoolers out for the summer (like a normal school year) or let them continue the normal routine? My daughter's school is open all year round.

We take vacations throughout the year so it's not like I need to pull her out for a summer trip. Also playgroups around here seem to be LESS active during the summer and I don't want her missing the socialization.

Our children attend a daycare with preschool work for the 3-4 year olds while I work. Since I don't get the summer off as my job is year-round, she stays in school year-round. When I was on maternity leave, however, she still went to school 3 days a week because I didn't want her to lose the routine and also for the socialization.

It really depends on how often you'll be gone and how much extra it will cost. If you are planning on being away for a big chunk of time, then maybe you can save some money and not continue through the summer. However, if you do that... try to find some play groups or summer activities to participate in when you are home so you don't miss out on the socialization.
If you're only going to be on vacation for a week... stay enrolled at your preschool. She's made friends there and will be happy to see her friends as often as she can. Plus they may offer fun activities/field trips/visitors that can make her experience there extra special.

I'd leave her in preschool if they are year round. The one my kids attended was set up like a kindergarten class, and they did have the summer off. I'm mom to 3 .
