I always have to clear my throat because of all the drainage and my mom wont get me mucinex because supposedly its "expensive"(whatever). Is there a way I can get rid of it without meds? I got a solo for church coming up soon and I can't just stop and clear my throat in the middle of the song...

This is perfect for getting rid of mucus, clearig your throat and you can get instant results just before your performance.

Try a saline nasal RINSE (not a spray) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean). I've been doing it at work too.

The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot. The special bottle and salt is about $20.

You can do this a often as you like with no bad side effects.

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. So if you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis. (I put in a link for “what” and “how” – there’s also some good info the American Academy of Otolaryngology)

Mucinex is for mucus in your lungs. You want a decongestant. But insteed of mucus running down your throat it just runs out your nose. Tip for your solo don't drink anything but water. I had the same problem and found that lemon juice and other acidic drinks break up the mucus quick, but these same drink do alot of damage to your voice and destroy your range, and stamina.

The acidity from lemons helps break up the mucus. That is what I have been told in the past. It works, but it does not last too long. You could mix some lemon in water and drink that. That may help.

Unfortunately,. it seems like men can bring that stuff up easier than us girls. And, also, our health plans are so expensive. Just TRY to see a doctor, and maybe he or she has samples of mucinex or can recommend something less expensive. Good Luck!

Hot water (as hot as you can handle) with lemon and honey. The acidity of the lemon will break down the mucus, and the honey will sooth. You can substitute an orange for the lemon, if you prefer.

Drink hot water with lemon. Stay away from chocolate and soft drinks. My daughter is an actress and that's what they do.
