A group of people invents a fairytale, and start to claim it's true.

Another group of people just lived their lives, had no interest in that fairytale what-so-ever.

Then the fairytale somehow became part of everybodies laws, and the people who never had any interest in the silly fairytale needed to start claiming they didn't believe in the fairytale. All of a sudden they were a 'group', and they never even started that group.

Then the fairytale believers started to claim that this 'group' of 'unbelievers' had no morals, because they didn't believe in the fairytale.

Planet Earth is a silly planet, really.

Exactly.

Atheism is a term that shouldn't even have to exist. You don't see any non-alchemists or non-leprechaunists... these are things that are commonly accepted to be debunked or non-existent.

Nobody just sat down and thought of this story. Back 1000's and 1000's of years ago man was really uneducated so they really couldn't explain how or why stuff happend so they thought gods and then it grew and grew. Also back then if you didn't believe in god or the gods then you where killed so people where brought up not even to question gods. Then when people became a little smarter they started coming up with there own religions. Lastly we are at the present with technology and science we have discovered that there might not be a god and also religious freedom we don't have to live in fear about what we believe

Silly PEOPLE on the planet. Look, if fairy tale believers can't attack non-believers with logic, their "pathology" is to accuse them of something idiotic. Garbage in, garbage out. As to "morals," I have a Christian friend who said I behave more like a Christian than he does. (& not because anyone, or anything TOLD ME TO!) & you, know, he's right. It's fun for children to believe in fairy tales, but very dangerous when adults do. I "might" be able to come a tad close to comprehending that these fairy tales bring them "comfort," but how can this be true when they believe we're all SINNERS? Poor Eve. Blamed for everything. (I guess sex is a sin, too.) What sort of sadistic god would DELIBERATELY (If we even consider this little story), put out the temptation that would make EVERYONE SINNERS FOR LIFE? Sadistic? Yes. Loving? Nope. Okay guys, I'm giving you free will, but by your very nature, (& my "true" judgment of sin), I'm going to burn you in hell. I'd be SO happy to simply let the fairy tale believers live in their own world if they weren't always preaching at ME.

Edit: Just a by the way--"Innocent" (hmmm) it's VERY audacious of you to say I've committed sins. You don't know anything about me.

Atheists existed far longer than religious people. Atheists have been around since our ape/monkey like ancestors. Anyone that lacks a belief in any God is considered an Atheist. Atheists have been around for a couple million years. Also, the majority of the organisms on this planet are atheists.

What is worth pointing out with this story is that people didn't define themselves as atheist until Christianity, as the Roman Empire's favourite weapon of mass subjugation, became dominant in Europe.

This isn't about religion, it's about Christianity and its adherents.

I believe in God but not organized religion. I llike your story. Look what happened to the so called pagans. They were living their lives, based on everyday living and nature, and along came the Christians and said they were not doing it right, were evil, etc. Seems funny that most Christian holidays are based on the pagan holidays don't you think?

Why don't you just blame the first woman, Eve, for commiting the first sin? Planet Earth isn't silly, just sinful. Even you have been known to commit a sin, so does everyone blame you for life?
