I've found using a hard rubber "squeegee" can lift fine hairs out of the carpet and to the surface better than a vacuum.

pulling the squeegee across the carpet while pressing firmly. I use a squeegee designed for silk screen printing but a window washing on will work too. has to be hard tho.

once I've squeegeed it to the surface - its way easier to vacuum.

They actually have a "pet hair" vaccuum (I think is is Dyson). Haven't used it myself, but if it's made specifically for pet hair it sounds like a good idea to try it! Other than that, try to brush your dogs every day, which will reduce a lot of the hair that would end up on your carpet.

Sometimes it just works itself way in you can rent a carpet cleaner. Cheaper version is to get a bucket of water and brush Scrub you would be amazed at how much comes up even after you vac.

What I do... take the dog's slicker brush (the one with the metal teeth) get down on my hands and knees and slicker brush the carpet, then,,,vacuum it. ( I live with 4 hairy, shedding dogs)
How to get it off furniture...I use a slightly damp cloth and wipe the furniture, cleaning and rinsing cloth often.

This is not an easy thing. It used to plug up my vaccum all the time so I bought a small shop vac and thats all I use now.

You vacuum the hell out of it....north to south, then again east to west. Use a high powered vacuum.
