The keys are designed to break when you've opened 75% of the can.

Why? Just a prank by a disgruntled can designer, probably upset that he was stuck designing cans while his former classmates were designing cars and airplanes.

Having sliced my hands and fingers several times using the key, i now use an ordinary can opener and do it in complete safety. Given the amount of injuries incurred with these tins I am surprised that legislation has not been passed to ban these tins from the shelves.

I know, it's ridiculous. I cant believe they've never updated it and taken the key off or put on a normal ring pull on the lid
It's dangerous too, i've sliced my hand open more than once on the edges. either that or the key just snaps off before you've opened it. You can still use a can opener as normal though
