You need to see a better doctor. Find a Headache and pain management specialist or neurologist.
They will likely prescribe a triptan (Imetrex, Axert, Maxalt etc.) These work well if taken immediately at the first sign of your migraine.
The doctor may also prescribe a preventative med. &They will try to determine the underlying causes and triggers.
You should keep a headache diary. Record the severity of the pain, the time of day, the duration of the headache, the weather, your period, and any trigger foods you ate.
The doctors will also monitor you for rebound headaches. It sounds like you're doing the right thing. You can get a rebound headache from pain meds (the meds cause rather than helping relieve the pain.) Make sure you don't take the same pain med two days in a row. (eg On Monday only take acetaminophen for the pain. On Tuesday take ibuprofen. On Wed you can take acetaminophen again.) Tylenol is acetaminophen. Check the contents of Excedrin and Motrin.
There are many other types of treatments out there.
I've had great success from nerve blocks and acupuncture and meditation. (After much practise, I can reduce the severity of my headaches by meditation.)
Don't worry there is a lot of help available for you. Finding a *good* headache doctor is the first step.

Ok..well there is no specific cure for migraine headaches. The goal is to prevent symptoms by avoiding or altering triggers. When you do get migraine symptoms, try to treat them right away. The headache may be less severe. When migraine symptoms begin Rest in a quiet, darkened room Drink fluids to avoid dehydration (especially if you have vomited) Try placing a cool cloth on your head Over-the-counter pain medications like acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or aspirin are often helpful, especially when your migraine is mild. Be aware, however, that chronic usage of such pain medications may result in rebound headaches. If these don't help, well you should go to the doctor about prescription medications. Your doctor will select from several different types of medications, some may include Ergots like dihydroergotamine or ergotamine with caffeine (Cafergot) Triptans like sumatriptan (Imitrex), rizatriptan (Maxalt), almotriptan (Axert), frovatriptan (Frova), and zolmitriptan (Zomig); these are available as a tablet, nasal spray, or self-administered injection Isometheptene (Midrin) Stronger pain relievers (narcotics) Many of the prescription medications for migraines narrow your blood vessels. Therefore, these drugs should not be used if you have heart disease, unless specifically instructed by your doctor. However...If you wish to consider an alternative, feverfew is a popular herb for migraines. Several studies, but not all, support using feverfew for treating migraines. If you are interested in trying feverfew, make sure your doctor approves. Also, know that herbal remedies sold in drugstores and health food stores are not regulated. Work with a trained herbalist when selecting. P.S. Migraine headaches generally represent no significant threat to your overall health

I suggest you 2 visit another doc though there's no remedy for Migrane but may be he can reduce your attacks.
Even my mom&i've got migrane.I am now-a-days taking drug-'Flunarizine' tablet's name-flunarin(i doubt i've spelled it right)
Also avoid going out in the noons.
Have some coffee but not more than 2cups daily.
Sleep extremely well.
Always keep your head heavily oiled with coconut or Himtaj tel(oil) if you are an indian, you will find it easily.
Try to stay with your AC on everytime and put all the lights off.Even close your windows as it will resist the heat coming from them.
Bath daily with COLD water.
I hope these tips will reduce your attacks.God bless!

Migraines can be brought on by a lot of things from seasonal allergies to stress. You can ask your doctor for a prescription such as Imetrex (which is what I take). Try to watch when your headaches are the most frequent, such as before your period, at the being of a season change, when stress is high. This will help pin point the trigger. I hope this helps.

Not worried, but talk to your doctor- you may need a scan of your head (like MRI) to rule out an aneurysm or tumor etc. Anything that puts the pressure on the brain will cause pain. And if it is not responding to medication, there could be something else there. Also, stress will cause migraine like pain in some people, examine your life and see if there is something you can do to lessen the stress (I know, easier said than done.)

You need to know what triggers them. I often get them when I don't get enough sleep. Sometimes if I catch them quick enough, the Exedrin works. If they are really bad, my doctor gave me Imitrex, which works really well. My doctor gets migraines, though, so she understands how bad they can be.
