Most breeders here (the owner of the male) want cash. Usually around $500-1000 depending on the breed and lineage. They normally don't do a puppy payment like that. A small dog normally has 5-6 sometimes more per litter.
It would be your responsibility to sell the puppies not the males owners. THat is why they get cash and no puppies.

You need to care about the mother and father if you are going to breed your dog!!!! How else will you know anything about the puppies genetic predispositions.
Please don't breed your dog. There are so many dogs without homes already. What are your reasons for breeding? Do your puppies have health certificates, titles, awards? Are you working with a Vet? Do you have customers lined up?
Don't breed dogs for money it is unethical. What will you do if all your puppies don't sell, drop them off at the pound?
Here in America backyard breeding is frowned upon. Let professionals breed dogs. A good breeder breeds dogs to better the breed and you don't seem to care about that.
Please get your dog spayed, America has enough dogs in orphanages.

Chihuahua's will usually have about 1-4, same with Yorkies.
Maltese usually have about 2-5.
In the U.S. the owners of the "stud" usually want money instead of a pup, known as a "stud fee". It can cost alot of the stud has a good bloodline of champions and such. But, if is just for pet quality dogs, it can be cheaper...it really depends on the lineage of the stud and the owners.

Your dog could have anywhere from 0-10 puppies. But, she shouldn't have ANY.
Because your dog is a pet quality non-showing dog with unknown bloodlines, she should be spayed ASAP.
With 2-5 million pets being killed in shelters each year, many of which are purebred, the ONLY reason to breed is to improve the standard.
Having a 'purebred' dog or having 'the best pet in the world' are NOT reasons to bring more low quality non-standard animals into the world. Be caring and considerated and have your dog spayed.

It sounds to me like you shouldn't be breeding your dog at all. Backyard breeding and people breeding their dogs "just because" are contributing to the pet overpopulation. Since you "couldn't care less" about knowing the other dogs mother or father (which is VERY important when trying to maintain a good line of genetics), it sounds like you need to do a LOT more research before you start breeding your dog to any old dog just to have puppies, or to make money, or whatever you are doing. Please, leave the breeding to the breeders.

you either pay them a stud fee or give them the pick of the litter (one puppy) but keep in mind no on here can predict how many pups your dog will have .. she might have 0 pups 1 pup give or take it just depends on the dog and how many eggs were fertilized at the time. i had one female (pei) have 1 pup and her second litter just over a yr later was 5 pups so it just depends.

the us frowns on breeding dogs that are not purebreed. maltese should be bread with a maltese. We have to many unwated dogs now. you can expect 1-3 pups. If you breeder here with a bigger male you can expect the pups and or the mother to dye.

I would get her spayed. And forget trading mixed breed puppies with people you don't know anything about.
