It saves the their time having to wait for us to get dressed. Also-my dr. told me a long time ago to deduct 3 lbs for clothes when you weigh dressed and it works as I weigh undressed at home and is pretty much always a 3 lb difference.!

The doctor's know that your clothes are going to add some weight, and it's not enough to mistakenly label someone as overweight. I think they do it for the comfort of the patient, it's often too much trouble and awkwardness to strip down and change into a gown just for a checkup.
Also, if the doctor is keeping track of your weight over the years, they can still tell, if you've gained thirty pounds in two years (or lost it). it's just a way to keep track of your weight. It doesn't have to be perfect for a checkup.

Probably because they can get a good estimate about how much your clothes weigh and most patients wouldn't feel comfortable stripping down to their underwear to weigh in. Also, for purposes of the doctor's office, they are probably just tracking your weight fluctuations in between visits, so if they always weigh you with your clothes on, it is probably a safe bet that they will be able to get a fairly accurate assessment of whether you have gained or lost weight in between visits.

I think they are looking only for general trends overtime. The difference in your weight from morning to evening can vary by 2-5 lbs depending on your weight so the doctor's office is just looking for an estimate. If you are within or close to a healthy range they won't worry about it. If you visit a few times a year and are gradually putting on a lot of weight, it can be something they have documented or can see as contributing to other conditions or symptoms you might have.

The docs place of work knows there's a three-5 lb distinction for garments. some might set their scal for this others might take it into consideration and nonetheless i do no longer think of the docs place of work is being concerned approximately 4 lbs. the matters they handle are plenty extra effective fluctuations.

I know people who would refuse to weigh until they put the gown on and would come back out. Ha! Where I go they automatically take off 3pds. everytime I go.
