9 years ago, my brother and his then current girlfriend had a daughter. Although they are not together anymore, I still try as hard as I can to be in the little girl's life, since I am her uncle. She is rarely brought over to our home, and she doesn't know us by name, only by the fact that her mom tells her I'm her uncle. Well, She recently started playing Baseball in a Kid's league, and I want to give her a gift that shows that I am encouraging her to play more, and to do things she loves. She also loves to skate, and I had bought her a skateboard for Christmas. I just want to know what I can get her to let her know that we care about her. I thought about a new glove, or a bat, but the fact that I don't know much about baseball, and what types are better, stalls me. What should I get her?

Get her a gift certificate for a sporting goods store near her. Try to find out who her favorite team is, then buy her a jersey or a hat with the team logo on it. If her team requires her to wear cleates, a new pair would be good as well. What would probably be really special to her is if you could go to one of her baseball games and watch her play. I hope these help.

She's 9, you don't need to worry about a high quality bat, epecially since kids that age are just trying to find out what they're good at. For all you know, in 2 weeks she may have a new favorite sport. Get her a baseball bat, that should just be fine. Make sure it looks cool, that's all she's really going to care about.

This little girl deserves to get a baseball glove....a baseball.....a baseball bat or a baseball cap for her b'day.
The people in the store (especially a sports store) can help you choose the proper equipment for her at her age.
What a wonderful way to get to know your neice. You can go to her baseball games and she will be very proud to have you there watching her play.
Good on you for staying in her life. That is so important that she knows her family. Also good on you for getting her the skateboard. You sound like a very good uncle to me and keep up the good work. You will never regret having her in your life.I pray her father treats her as well.We need more people like you in this world.
