I love eating bagels for breakfast but when I buy a dozen the ones left for the end of the week are hard and taste horrible. How do I keep them fresh???

I'm the exact same way. I put half in the fridge, and the other half in the freezer.
If you take them right out of the freezer, and throw in a toaster - they taste great.
Freezing doesn't affect bagels other than keeping them fresh.

It depends on where you buy them. Grocery store ones can be frozen, but ones from places like Panera are made fresh daily and do not have any preservatives in them. (My son used to work there.) So those ones are best to eat fresh that day.

Freeze them. Bagels freeze beautifully.

I put mine in individual baggies and when ready to eat, I sprinkle just a few drops of water from my finger tips in the baggie, re-seal and place in the micro. Don't microwave them too long tho', they get really rubbery...just long enough to warm and freshen them.

I placed them in a zipper-lock baggie, then right into a tupperware container. they're going to stay clean on the counter for a pair of days (except it is warm & humid on your kitchen). you could refrigerate them nevertheless; and purely zap in the microwave for approximately 10 sec. to soften them up
