YES! My cat also says mama.
Also, my sister Ann has a story of being alone one night, and she kept hearing a little, ghostly sort of voice saying "Ann! Ann! Ann!" and it turned out to be a cat.

The other night, she had a friend staying over and the cat jumped on the bed & the friend swore the cat said "Get Out!" LOL Scared the crap out of her!

Animals are amazing -no cat but I do have a golden retriever that is mouthy--when I got her 14 months ago the previous owner said (as he left) this dog can talk. To myself I said "Yeah, Right! But it wasn't long after getting her I was amazed --she can say "I want out" and "Come on" which she says in the mornings before I can even get in the bathroom. I've taught her on command (with pieces of cheese) to say "I love you" --it's so funny and I love her to death. Keep working with ur cat and you will be surprised.

Finally! My cat says mama too, when he wants to call me to let him out or play with me. No one believes me, except for people who have heard it. Just one detail: I am Greek, and in Greek the word mama takes its accent on the second a. (like in French), and that is how my cat says it too (both I and my husband say the word when we refer to me, and he knows it). I suppose you pronounce the word with the accent on the first a, in english, does the cat pronounce it like that too?

I have a big gray tom, he's plain grey with no stripes or anything, Anyways he says Out when he needs to go out. He never says mama cause all he needs to do to get my attention is to sharpen his (noexistant) claws on my chair. he's marking my chair with his scent pads and telling me he wants up in my lap or food.
He used to immitate the birds and dogs in the area too. only cat I knew who could twitter like a bird and bark like a dog. We got him very early (around 2 weeks) and he never knew any other cats.

Damn! No, not yet. I'm trying to get Sophie to say Mama, but no luck so far.
She knows I want something from her, and she knows it's vocal, but she hasn't put it all together yet.
I'm so jealous.
