There is a speed dating event to tonight and my friend and I are thinking about going. I'm kind of skeptical because I have this thing where I feel that all men who go to those kinds of events have problems, Why couldn't they find a woman elsewhere if they're so good. EX: It's like a very successful doctor with lot's of money signing up on singles.com. OPinions, experiences please!

There are many reasons why peole end up on speed dating or on online dating. It could be that they are extrememly shy or it could be their work schedule is so busy the only time they have to meet people in online. Give it a shot. you will never know unless you try.

Good Luck!

Go, and have a good time. Someone who speed dates is no more likely to have "problems" than anyone else...same goes with people who use online dating sites, or meet people to date in any other way.

People have various reasons for using the tools they do to find dates..time constraints, lack of patience, not knowing where to go to find the kind of people they like, enjoying experiencing new things and new ways of meeting people, etc.

Who says these guys can't find a woman elsewhere? That also implies there is something wrong with you...why can't you find a guy elsewhere, why are you single? See how that works?

Give it a chance...if you aren't attracted to any of the guys then don't give them your contact information...you still had the experience and hopefully a decent evening anyway...but if you do meet one or some that spark your interest, then bonus plan...right?

Why does it mean that they are bad people. You are not bad because you are trying to find a mate. Don't you think that they feel the same way you do a little scared and excited at the prospect of meeting someone. It's just another way of being introduced without having to get over your own inhibitions to go us to someone in a bar. It's a scary world right now and you need a partner to go though the good and bad. It doesn't matter how you meet that person just that it is the right person for you. Take some chances and go. It is only one night and you don't know who you will meet. Maybe the doctor want somebody who is right for him and doesn't want him for his money or his career. It's not like he can hang out at a bar every night trying to meet someone. I wouldn't want to see him as a patient if he did. Give It a Shot and Have a Good Time

Honey, you can use that rationale to avoid ALL dating. It may SEEM like all the good men are taken or gay, and the only ones left must have some terrible flaw.... but then what does that say about you? Are you single because YOU are terribly flawed, or is it because you just haven't met someone that's really compatible with your particular individual self? Give these guys a chance. There are plenty of decent guys (and gals) who use online dating, speed dating, matchmakers, etc, to introduce them to a range of potential mates.

(And for the record, I have known rich, successful young doctors who use online dating services - they spend just as much time working as you do, and therefore find it just as hard to meet people).

You're somewhat right but then again you never really know who ur gonna meet. Some men are so busy they don't have time to find women the traditional way and some men just prefer those types of events. I think it's a good experience and u should try it. Good Luck.

I think an event like that would be fun. I would go not really expecting to meet the love of your life but hey its better than staying home watching TV

jsut go check it out.. then judge it... maybe some people don't have time or know many people to actually date in real world... remember life is faster by the minute.. bt keep in mind safety... keep it at a distance if you decide to date someone and meet in public place .. one can never be too sure ;) have fun!

Why can't you find a man elsewhere if you're so good?

Don't go. It would be a waste of time for you.

By the way: these events attract far more women than men.

I have never done it, but put it this way, what do you lose by trying? if all of the people you meet are losers then at least you will have something to laugh about at the end of the night.
