Pickles, because of the vinegar, cuts flim to help clear your voice, but pickles are usually high in sodium.
Water is good to clear a voice, lemonade is good, too. Also, it is not good to sing on a full stomach.

Sounds more like she is an idiot... Along with some of the answers here as well... Your vocal chords do not need to be "Loose" to function properly. Check out the link I have provided you below if you want to learn the correct process and anatomy of the human voice...
A good singing voice has much more to do with what you actually avoid and abstain from rather than what you consume.
Never eat or drink ANYTHING before singing EVER.... Especially not pickles or Snickers.... The chocolate will have an effect as it is a kind of expectorant in that it will cause mucus to form, and come up and out like it or not.
Never drink alcohol or smoke.
Your voice is a living instrument and you care for your chords the same way you care for your internal organs and skin.
Hydration, nutritiuon, rest and relaxation.
Your voice will respond better to a calm, healthy condition that pickles have absolutely nothing to do with...
Pickles actually contain vinegar and the cure sometimes contains mustard seed and pepper which can cause unfavorable condition in the digestive tract and can cause reflux... which if you ask Ashley Simpson... Is NOT good for the voice!

Honestly, I would imagine the pickles would make your voice worse. But when I sang in high school, I drank a lot of chamomile tea with honey. The warm liquid will keep you're vocal cords lose and chamomile is good for you anyway. The honey also is good for your throat. Greasy foods and milk will only produce more mucus so steer clear right before you sing.

if she was selling pickles (which is weird to do at a performing arts camp, btw) then she was just trying to make extra money off of you. but the acid in the juice from them might help.
i have bachelor's degree in theatre and music, and i happen to know that hot tea with honey and lemon are great for your voice, even hot water with honey and lemon. also, stay away from milk or heavy milk products before a performance, as they'll clog your throat. caramel is good to soothe your throat. i had an instructor who used to give out mini snickers before performances! (don't worry about the milk chocolate, a bite isn't enough to really do anything)

by no ability devour dairy! this implies no milk, cheese, yogurt, no longer even pizza or milk chocolate!! frequently, i do no longer devour any dairy 40 8 hours in the previous making a track. no carbonated drinks the two. and don't drink/ devour something too acidic. warm tea w/ honey is a stable determination, as is eating fruit.
