I have found Sony CDs to be very good.
.CDA (or raw, .WAV usually works as well) is the format needed to be used as this is the same format as store bought CDs.

You might have your burnt cds in MP3 format, which wasn't common back in '98. You can try to reburn your cds in a different format. You can get a really good cd/mp3 player for around $100 with a removable face. If you remove the face of the cd player, nobody will want to steal it because it's worthless without the face and sometimes they have a blinking red light that looks like a security system was installed.

A lot of older CD players won't play MP3 based CD's. I got a CD player for $100 and the face of it comes off so it's not obviously a CD player in your car if someone looks in the window.
It does play regular store bought CD's though, right? You may just be stuck with that...

You might want to check on the format of the burned CDs. You might have mp3s or wmas on it instead of the original uncompressed music file. Also, possible your car's CD player doesn't read CD-r format which means no burned CDs whatsoever. Go buy a new car CD sytem. Only 60$. Come on now.

Get your manual out and find out what format the car cd plays. There are different formats like MP3, WMA, etc. Then it may play only -R CDs and not +CDs. You just have to find the right mix.

Not your Honda Accord it's your radio. The play head doesn't read fast enough. Get a new radio that can play everything. CD-R/RW/MP3 formats
