The best way is in person. Not an email or a phone call. Be strong, be true to yourself. Be kind. Make it quick and simple. State your reasons, and move on.
Good Luck

Be honest. People will respect the truth even if they don't like it or agree with it. Honesty is the best policy. I would rather someone be honest with me than lead me on with some bull. . .I may not like the fact that they're breaking up with me, but atleast I could say they were straight up with me.

It depends on the relationship, but you have to be honest and straightforward. let the person know that the relationship is not what you want and that you KNOW that the best thing for you to do is the be apart from him/her. I would say to be honest and straight-to-the-point. it will hurt at first, but after some time, it will be okay

do it in person, show respect for this person. .. remember even if you are breaking up u guys shared good times and months or yrs together, and you both should respect that. And when you do just be honest and tell them the reason why.. do not go around the bushes or give the cliche breakup sentence.. its not you its me .. lol thats old... speak from the heart.. even if its bad its much appreciated.. good luck

There's no best way. To cut out all the grief, be truthful and be short and sweet about things. Be matter-of-fact and don't dwell on the what-ifs and you-did-this, etc.

very broad question. So many things to factor. Best general way is to keep the peace and move on.

It's not you, it's me.
It's always best to blame yourself and make the other person feel like there is nothing they can do about it. You don't want them mad.
