A Better Than Sex Cake
1 German chocolate or other chocolate cake, baked, 13x9x2-inch
3/4 cup fudge topping
3/4 cup caramel or butterscotch topping
3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
6 chocolate covered toffee bars
1 tub of whipped topping
Do not remove cake from pan. After the cake has cooled, make holes in the entire top of the cake using a large fork or the handle of a wooden spoon. Pour (one at a time) fudge, butterscotch, and condensed milk over the top of the cake and let each flavor soak in before adding the next. Crush 3 of the candy bars and sprinkle on the top. Frost the cake with the whipped topping and crush the 3 remaining toffee bars to decorate the top.

Boiled Fruit Cake
185 g butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
500 g Mixed Dried fruit ( I use a mixture with cherries in it)
3/4 cup water
1/4 cup sherry, whiskey or brandy
2 large eggs
1 cup plain flour
1 cup self-raising flour
1 level tsp. mixed spice
1/2 level tsp. cinnamon
1/2 level tsp. grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp. bicarbonate of soda
20 cm fruit cake tin (7 cm deep), lined with paper (line sides as
well)
2 TBSP flaked or slivered almonds (optional) (I never use it)
Put the butter, sugar, fruit and water into a saucepan. Bring to the
boil and simmer very gently for about 8 mins. Stir every now and again
with a wooden spoon. Remove from stove, add sherry, brandy or whiskey
and then let the mixture cool until it is lukewarm. ( I run some water
in the sink and pop the pot in there - it cools quicker).
Add the eggs and beat well with the same wooden spoon you used to
stir
the mixture.
Sift the two flours, mixed spice, cinnamon, nutmeg and bicarb soda.
Fold this into the boiled mixtures and ensure that all the flour is
mixed in thoroughly. Pour into the prepared cake tin.. Sprinkle the top
with the almonds. Bake in moderately slow over (160 ded. C) for about 1
- 1 1/4 hours. Test with a skewer to make sure it is cooked before
removing from oven. Cool in tin for about 15 mins. then turn out onto a
wire rack. Cake will keep well in an airtight container for 4-5 days

I made a Thomas the Tank Engine cake with cream cheese icing.
It did rather well at the cake auction.
Red Velvet Cake is always a winner.

I always make the 1-2-3-4 cake because it is a three layer cake and looks impressive (and tastes great too).

Not for charity but I wasn't allowed to go to a party at church without one of my devil's food cakes. But being a nice Pentecostal church, full of nice, ernest ... Pentecostals; I wasn't allowed to call it a Devil's Food Cake but they could stand me calling it a DFC.
A few wanted to know why I couldn't simply call it a chocolate cake. "Because, the recipe calls it a ...... DFC!"

I once did a strawberry daiquiri pie and a grasshopper pie for a church function. I guess they weren't too crazy I'd brought a pie with alcohol. But they sold even before all the cherry and apple pies!
