I met a girl, she's african american. I'm white.
We have great fun together. Her family recently met me and
really treated me poorly. Privately her brother threatened me. I have no idea how to handle this situation well.

i would talk to her about it. when i dated interracially his parents and my parents didn't care about the race. well i'm sure they did to an extent but it was in a bad or threatening way. If her family or anyone in it is making threats at you then I would tell her. If you care about her enough to want to make it work, then you'll have to avoid her family whenever possible. That doesn't sound too great but unless her family can come around then you'll probably have to do it.

Just talk to her, let her know and let her handle it.

Then just avoid her family.

They will assume you are just dating her to take advantage of her. You'll have to have dated her for a while before they will become less worried about your intentions.

It's possible they are just prejudiced and worn't change, but usually they are just worried about you hurting/taking advantage or their daughter/sister.

My family (white) was a little distant with my wife until our first child, then all distance and discomfort vanished.

They sound like very healthy people. They should have been a little more honest and just told you to get lost, in no uncertain terms.

Hopefully they will kill you soon. That family has every right to protect themselves from sick perverts.
