If you want to cook it right away, I'd recommend defrosting it in the microwave rather than leaving it out on the counter to thaw. You can control it better and it will thaw quicker. It's dangerous to set meat out at room temperature for a prolonged amount of time since bacteria can grow. If you don't have a microwave, another method that's a little better than the counter top thawing is to put water in your sink and put the meat in a plastic bag then put it in the water. That is a little better because it will work faster, thus giving bacteria less time. Now, if you don't want to cook it for a day or so, just put it in the fridge, it will thaw within 24-48 hours. Good luck.

Get them out the night before and defrost them slowly in the fridge.. always put raw meat on the bottom of the fridge, then if there's any spills or bits drop off, you won't contaminate other food.
