Back in the day ( 8 years ago) I had a guy friend who I liked, but at the time I did not want to get close to him because I was afraid of getting hurt by a guy. He was always there for me and he never gave me a reason to believe that he would hurt me, but again I had been hurt before him so I tried not to get close to him. After me not calling him and ignoring him he finally gave up. We have since both went on with our lives (finished college, have our own jobs, etc). Recently I found him online and so I emailed him and asked how he was doing and all and he answered and added me on to his friends list, but my thing is he is not showing the attention I want him to. I e-mail him and he gives me these one sentence responses. He's in town and he hasn't ask me for my number or anything. I guess I am just use to him showing me so much attention and now it isn't the case. I still think about this guy everyday and no guy has compared to him and he is not showing me anything. What to do?

You shut him out 8 years ago because of something that someone else did to you so don't expect him to just open himself up to just be hurt again. Take it slow, keep talking to him but don't get too serious and maybe you could tell him you are sorry that you treated him like you did before. You have grown since then

He's probably either married or in a serious relationship. No matter how you feel about this guy, do not lower yourself to being the other woman. If he's not paying any attention to you don't throw yourself at him either, that would be really sad.

You lost your shot. And now he couldn't care less, and that make you want him even more. Sounds like he grew up and understands that the more he doens't want you the more you will want him. Or maybe its just payback for he spending soo much time and effort in your friend zone. Either way, go find another.

You need to give it up because he is probably in another relationship and doesn't want to have one with you, that's obvious. Move on and let it go now, thats all you can do
