Get them away from the TV, the Computer, Video Games and insist this Spring and Summer they spend their free time outside. Encourage them to get into a sport and most importantly encourage the rest of the family to do the same. Teaching by example is much more effective than enforcing new rules.

Damn, a 10 year-old dieting? At these young ages, they're supposed to be picking up specific habits of eating. Just try to get him/her active and start eating right, the food pyramid isn't hard to abide by and is the most simple and efficient way.

a ten year old should not try to lose some weight unless they were overly obese .
if they were obese then they should go see a nutritionist who can help them with their problem properly and in a healthy manner . because if u were a ten year old it is extremely unhealthy to try to lose wight on ur own , this will cause serious health issues.

i was 120 pounds at 10 years old...just try to eat healthier and ya no sweets...limit to 1 soda a day...try to drink more water...try to do more veggies and salads than chips and dip...a rule i made for myself (even now) don't eat after 7pm (or dark)....use mustard instead of ketchup (no calories)....try to talk to your mom about buying healthier snacks fruits/veggies...skim milk instead of whole....if you can try to get involved with sports..I started playing softball when i was 10 and played for 3 years..during that time I got my growth spurt...when you get taller you kinda thin out...search for healthy snacks for kids...make a list and ask your mom to help you out...good luck
