whenever you try and exit a program or site, and the computer is not responding, by hitting the Ctrl+alt+del at the same time tells the computer to go to an alternate way of getting out of the program. Hit the "task manager" and it will show you the program that your in. By highlighting it, you can close it out. Another window will appear and you can click on the "end now" button. There is also five other options that you can use. Change your password, shut down the computer all together, log off and lock your computer, so that no one else can gain access to it.

Ctrl+alt+del allows you to login into the windows operating system
Ctrl+alt+del was invented by IBM engineer David Bradley
the combination Ctrl+alt+del was selected to allow the users to forcefully login using both the hands as in old keyboards Ctrl+alt was located on left side and Del was located on right hand side
David first selected Ctrl+alt+Esc but he left that as it was possible to login by mistake with one hand.
so Ctrl+alt+del was selected

It starts the Windows Task Manager. This program shows everything that is running on the system and can be used to cancel programs that are not responding due to an error. I would not stop any background tasks with it unless you really know what you are doing.

Brings up the Task Manager on screen. Mostly used to restart your computer when it hangs.

But it never works if your keyboard/Mouse functioning also hangs.

Microsoft were so confident that their OS would hang at times, they provided this alternate method of shutting down.

System manufacturers were so confident that even this feature of MS will fail at times, they kept a RESTART button in their hardware.
