I had OCD from 5 yrs old to 24yrs old and I had my thyroid checked years ago and I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (Autoimmune Thyroid Disease) They can only detect it by having a thyroid antibody test done...not just the THS test. They gave me thyroid meds and From 12 hrs after my first pill my OCD completely disappeared! I told my doctor but he doesn't believe me! But all that matters is that I know the truth. OCD free for almost 5 yrs now! i would really suggest getting tested...but it has to be the antibody test it is not a standard blood test.

I am guessing that the symptoms listed in your details are what your specific symptoms are? The best type of medication for OCD is going to vary on case by case basis. A lot of people take paxil, anafril, prozac, and/or zoloft, to name a few. None of the drugs actually cure the disease;however, they can lessen the effects.
Are you sure you have OCD? From the symptoms you listed, it's not completely clear. My best suggestion for you would be to try cognitive-behavioral therapy. If you do not want to pay someone to help you through this, there is a great book that can help you practice cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques on your own.
I recommend The OCD Workbook, and I can't remember the name of the other OCD book that I am referring to above, but it is something about beating it on your own.
Good luck and take care!!

I have OCD and i saw a show once and the girl had OCD. When ever you get the feeling to touch things twice or something just dont do it. I have to count when I walk down stairs, by 3s or 7s. I used to could only put on my seatbelt unless we were pulling out of something like the driveway. But I just didnt do and now I am completley over this feeling of anxiety.

Drugs don't help with OCD, most people who have it,
say, medication did not help, with the symtoms, one of the only things that work for this debilitating disorder, is substituting what ever your particular habit is with something else, that is less threatening to your physical well being , like if you pull your hair, try keeping your hands busy with some other activity, like knitting, and so on, for any of the other types, good luck in finding something that works well for yours, God Bless!
