So, seriously, I need to quit caffeine after 15 years of Diet Coke addiction. I know it is messing with my memory and my head and I HATE IT!! So, I am taking caffeine out of my diet altogether. Only thing is, I am having horrible headaches, dizzy feelings and sheer anger. This is very hard and it is only the first day. I just want aspartame and caffeine out of my life!

Maybe you should taper it out instead of quiting cold turkey.
That's the way I had to do it.
If you drink 5 sodas a day, cut down to 3 a day for the week, then one a day for the next week, or however you think will be the best way. Eventually, you will not need it anymore.

I know exactly what you are experiencing, as I did the same thing. The first day, I thought I had the flu and the second night I woke up with muscle spasms. I sat on the floor, put my arms around my knees and rocked back and forth to pull my back muscles loose. The third day, I realized that I was having drug withdrawal symptoms, and vowed never to be enslaved like that again. The headaches should stop about day four. Dink a lot of water, and try to get outdoors and walk. I felt like throwing up whenever I smelled coffee for about six months after I stopped drinking it, and I was drinking about 10 cups a day, for many years. I managed to kick the habit, and now, have 1 cup in the morning, and that is it. Don't give up, it will be over in a couple of days and you will feel a lot better. Been there, done that. Best wishes

you need to take it slowly. think about how many cans you drink/used to drink a day, and then gradually reduce the number of cans over time.

and it's cheating if you substitute it with coffee or something.

I would step off of it slowly...I personally would have to move to a deserted island...
