My wisdom tooth has to come out.I'm scared of the pain....what should I take for it so I don't get uncomfortable later? And I'm scared of the stitches especially the nylon ones which have to be taken off afterwards.Anyone has experienced that? Please explain how painful that procedure of taking off stitches would be?Can I get anesthesia for that?
Thanks for your help.

eat some pineapple a couple days before your surgery. this helps you heal a little bit faster. you won't feel any pain during the procedure. you will either be either completely asleep or you will feel pressure, but not pain. I had all 4 taken out when i was 16. usually they use a material that disolves by itself (gut), so no suture removal is required. they will give you pain medication for you to take at home. you will feel drowsy and your cheeks will look swollen a puffy for a while and you will have limited range when opening your mouth. warm salt-water rinses will help you heal after surgery. just take your meds and get some rest. you'll be fine. good luck!

Oh boy did I experience it. Today I got my last 2 wisdom teeth out. It's painless, u don't feel the injection, the stitches or the dentist pulling and pushing. Removing the stitches is also painless and u don't need anesthesia. Uncomfortable is the swelling and little pain u have after the procedure. Also u can't eat normal food because u can't open your mouth wide enough for it to fit. These are the main characteristics experienced right now by me.

Getting the tooth removed will be practically painless, you are usually so doped up you wont even remember it. Also your dentist can give you a prescription for pain killers so you can avoid the pain afterword. As for stitches they will most likely use a dissolving stitch the does not have to be removed, and in any case getting stitches removed does not hurt at all, many people will remove their own stitches at home with a pair of small scissors. I had to have 4 wisdom teeth removed at once and it was not that bad. I went back to work the next day with only mild discomfort.

i got all four wisdom teeth out at the same time a lil over a year ago. they put me out and when i came to i felt no pain, i was however very dizzy and promptly threw up. they said that happens alot. they sent me home with a prescription of codeine. i found out i can't tolerate codeine very well and spent the rest of the day vomiting. as for the pain, it wasn't really that bad and most of it was experianced on that first day (vomiting didn't help at all). you can get other pain meds if you know you have a sensativity to codiene based drugs.
The mouth is amazingly fast at healing and by the next day the swelling had gone down and i could eat anything. i even stopped taking the pain meds and that helped ALOT. my stitches were the disolving kind so i did not have to go back to have them taken out. but if you do have to get the nylon ones, i am sure they will put you out for it if you ask, you'll just have to pay more is all. hope this helps.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. They gave me and IV and gassed me. Afterwards, I had a prescription for Tylenol 3.

For stitches, they use the disolving ones so you don't have to go and get them taken out. They'll disappear on their own.

You'll be just fine.
