dental TPA's? do they hurt?

i've been told i need a TPA and i've read up about it on the internet and it says that they're painful and awful to have in your mouth. Does it depend on your pain tolerance, or do they really hurt? do they prevent you from doing anything?

well they do hurt but if you go to the dentist they would treat it that would stop it from hurting and you be okay by then
