I have often thought of going to the church in our neighborhood, but have been hesitant because I'm not sure I believe that there is an all-powerful being who created everything. I do believe in Jesus, though.

I just wanted to say I am not responsible for all the thumbs-down here.

Some people go to church because they enjoy the sense of community or find it spiritually uplifting. If you want to go you should go regardless of whether you really believe in God.

Well.
I had some temtations from time to time , meaning I wandered ..what if Jesus was just a man and no God...(Jesus is also a God , being the Son of God)..and other like this..But my life was so hard that I had to rush into the church asking from God what I needed because only He who is God could help me in those situations...

I had to pass dificult exams ..I studied languages and literature and it is not easy to know everything from the begining of the world..

My child of 8 months got cold..so cold that I had to pray and ask God and Blessed Virgin to see after her (it was a girl).

Now I am sure God exists , as sure as when you say ''It is raining''..but although I weakly go to church ..I don't attend ...the religious service..I only go there to help a old woman....Many need many here.

And I don't attend it because I know everything...about God, the saints... I can read at home the life of Ortodox Saints....And my favourite priest have died ..he was famous..and old..

But my advise for you ..is to go there if you wish..even if you are not sure...But if you wish ..just go there and attend the religious service as much as you can...Here in my country you can stay 2 minutes or 3 hours..in church listening what the priest say and how they sing.It is so peacefull..I here it on radio ..in my car..when I don't want to go to church.

I want to tell you that there was even a saint ..and before becaming a great priest in hierarchy he was a sinner..and when he became right..he avoided to go to church....he was afraid somehow..and he met Jesus and Jesus told him:Why do you avoid Me?. Then he went to church..Just go there and remember that only God could do the univers..and the man ...and the man cannot make the man ..neither answer the question ...where does the man come from?Because nobody saw it except God..(The Holy Trinity)

My stepdaughters attend our local church roughly 5 times a week. They are only 8 and 10 so I'm sure its mainly because of their gym and playground. I don't like god or Christ anymore but I won't push my religious beliefs on them, I feel its their decision to make and I won't stand in their way (as long as they're not being molested... Otherwise I would be forced to show them, wrath from me > wrath of god). It does seem to put them in a positive setting doing constructive activities. Sorry for the rant, I try to answer your question now..

Church is hypocritical itself, my kids have been going for years now and would only be able to tell you 2 maybe 3 of the ten commandments. If your not being taught the word of God, and the guy at the podium is babbling about anything other than then Bible, then you shouldn't feel bad about it at all.

No, it's hypocritical to say you believe in God if you do not. Hypocrisy is basically wearing a mask to hide your true feelings and beliefs. Thus if you go to church because you want the social aspects, or because you want to learn something, or for whatever reason...you are not being a hypocrite unless you are just pretending something to fit in. That goes for sin, by the way. A Christian who says that lying is wrong, then goes and lies...is not necessarily being a hypocrite. There is a such thing as weakness and messing up. But when a Christian speaks against lying, then justifies their own lies...they are stepping into the bounds of hypocrisy.

I think you should continue to go to church, if for nothing more than to give God a chance to prove Himself one way or another. One thing I'm curious about is.....if you believe in Jesus how can you not believe in God. Ask yourself some important questions like; where did Jesus come from and how did the Earth and planets come into being.....the "big bang"......who started that and where did that material come from? Keep going to church and your faith will increase and so will your questions.

No. You will never decide what to believe if you do not obtain the necessary information. What better place to go than a church? However, do not base everything on a single church or church visit.

Im agnostic....I used to go to church once in a while 'just in case' but if you believe in the religion you know that going to church isnt what its about. Its the belief in that God as your personal savior. And that is why I dont go any more. I believe in karma more than any grand being ruling over all life..... You act like an *** and bad things happen. If you are a good person mostly good things will happen.

Even the most devout christian priest is not 100 percent sure he believes in god. But ask yourself, if there was an almighty being why would he want you to give up your sundays to worship him, that would be rather arrogant and make him not so almighty. I would guess he would rather we just took it easy on a sunday, do something you enjoy doing and show your gratitude to god by being a good person.

It is not hypocritical, this is what Church is for. To find out about God and what he has done for us and you need to read the Bible and find out for yourself. Find a good Church that is a Bible believing & people loving.
You need to find out why you believe in Jesus and not God....Not sure how you can seperate the two?????
I hope you find what you are looking for. We were made to love and worship.

Not absolutely. But It is hypocritical if you say you believe in God but you go to your Church only when you want.

The Church must be a Spiritual hospital. Perfect for you. Hope you find good friends there.
