There can be medical reasons why your cat's feces stink worse than a normal cat. Do they often have loose stools or diarrhea? Is there blood in the stool? Sometimes cats can have irritated bowels, which can cause their feces to smell quite a bit worse than the average cat. Try a food that is high in fibre, such as Science Diet Hairball Control formula. I had one cat who had the worse most horrible smelling feces and after about a month on this food I can't even tell hers apart from my other (normal) cat!
As for litters, the BEST litter I have ever used, believe it or not, is wood stove pellets, the ones made for burning in pellet stoves. You can get a large bag of these at most hardware stores for less than $5, and they smell great (like fresh wood). When wet, they crumble and absorb the wetness and odor, and as long as you don't put too much of it in the toilet you can flush it safely. My litter box is in our bathroom, right by the toilet. If I see a poop I'll scoop it right into the toilet and flush it away before it even has a chance to stink. Then about every 2 weeks I'll clean the whole thing. I never notice an odor EVER unless I put my face right up to the box, or I leave it uncleaned for more than 2 weeks. Try this out! Good luck with your cats!

Yes! I had the same problem, my little man was SO stinky I was gagging! I use Fresh Step and scoop a lot as well. But what has made a WORLD of difference is his food! He had been eating Science Diet for Indoor cats (what the vet recommended) but it seemed to just get worse and worse. Finallly a friend who works in a pet store recommended Nutro--they have a money back guarantee that there will be less litter box odor!! He's now on Nutro's Natural Choice Complete care Indoor weight management and there's very little odor left! I couldn't be happier! I noticed a difference in him and in the smell within 2 weeks of being on it. He's like a kitten again! Good luck!

Stick an open box of arm and hammer beside the litter box, or an odor eater thing which has activated carbon to suck up the smell.
Also, consider getting 2 more litterboxes, that way you can scoop once a day. Also make sure where you stick the feces has a tight lid with an odor absorber nearby, that'll stink a lot worse than the boxes usually.

I use tidy cats litter for Small spaces. it is a type of cat littler that is formulated for apartments and for those people who own RVs and such. Works wonders!!!!! You could even and the arm and hammer to make uber clean. Someone else mentioned feeding them a better quality food. That is very true, I feed my three Nutro brand cat food the benefits include: with in 24 hours the skin and coat are in noticeable better conditon, they shed less, their poo stink less and they go less often, it helps their immune systems and improves their teeth noticeably.
I also scrub out my litter box once a month with bleach , or pine sol to sanittize and kill the bactirea it help so much good luck!!!

As the proud owner of Lily and Baby inside cats and co-owner of Spot and Tommy out side cats, I know what you are talking about.
I have found my outside cats prefer to do their 'jobs' in certain areas and those areas don't smell. They are nature based. So I looked for an inside litter that operated on the same premise. I found it. It's called the World's Best Cat Litter. http://www.worldsbestcatlitter.com
I also tried growing lavender and rosemary in the summer and using those crushed in my old litter. I dried it out and put it in a large container and put in a handful everytime I changed/scooped the litter. It worked somewhat.

Try any of the foods listed in this link. They're all very good quality.
They won't guarantee odorless poo, but they will help. Not only that, but the urine smell will improve as well.
I noticed that when I switched my two from dry food to canned - after a few weeks on the new diet, that odor changed. I was a little freaked, but of course asked the question out here and got the answers I was looking for.

Boy do i know where you're coming from. I have a cat that would drive other cats out because he stinks so much. His box is so far from anywhere else in the house, but it doesn't matter, the smell finds us. I thought vitamins would help too,but they don't I bought Hartz chewable vitamins. He loves them but they don't do the trick. In short, I tried everything from changing the brand of cat food, to all the other things people have mentioned. I even tried not giving him cat food with fish. It didn't work So I'm sorry, we are stuck with the stink,

Well start with the food. Do your cats eat strictly wet food? If so, this is a definite cause of stinkier poo. Mine mostly eats dry food, with only about 1/3 of a can of wet food a day. If only dry food is being fed, you may want to switch to a higher quality food with out the fillers they use in cheaper foods. It sounds like you are doing all you can with the litter situation, A&H litter is pretty good.

Some brands make food for indoor cats (eg Royal Canin Indoor) produce less smelly poo. It is marked on the package. Also cleaning the sand immediately is recommended.
