is it ok for me as a step parent to throw a baby shower for the expecting mother of my stepsons baby,they r both 16 and r not together anymore,but her mom and her have invited me to be at the next doctors appt,i dont want to step on anybodys toes but i am excited and want to involved as much as i can. there relationship is stained because she has revalations of him being a good influence,but he is workin on makin things right with our help, and i figure with help from us and the more involvmentthat i have the better for him,and the baby,im not a mother myself just a step mom,but i feel i have some more rights tan his real mom cause of her track record with him and his siblings,

I think it would be a wonderful gesture for you to give the young lady a shower. It sounds like the family is being very accepting of you. I would just work as much as possible with her mother, maybe give the shower jointly. Her mom would be the best person to talk to about what she might need, or where she might register, and who to invite. The kids will need all the loving support they can get; it's great of you to step in and help.

hon you are perfectly within your rights to have a shower for the girl. I'm sure she and her mom would be very appreciative of it. Plus it shows you are interested in being involved and being in this childs life. Those are positive steps. If her family or friends have a shower too ..good for her, then she'll get even more stuff she needs. I'm mom to 3..sounds like you are good people!!

I say go for it! Just make sure you include her mother because that is HER daughter and I'm sure she has her own plans for her.
Also make sure you include some moments for your stepson. The last thing you want is to alienate him and have him thinking that you are all on 'her side'.
