Large entry way in your house. Getting our kids boots on when cramped is hard!

Find out who licenses home daycares in your state. In MA it is the EEC. You will have to do some research for your state. I am going through that process right now. That agency can give you lists of what you need to do, have in the house, provide, etc. Don't bother doing anything until you find out what they need you to do to get approved. In my state there is quite a bit that has to be done, but it's managable. The AWESOME thing is your tax write-offs - virtually everythin gin your house you can write off!! Food, electricity, toys, heat, lawn maintenance, pet maintenance, the list is endless!!!!! You probably want to start with getting CPR certified - most states require that. And a note on getting licensed - it is worth it becasue then you can write everything off, and also your liability is way less.

I have worked in the field of early childhood for ten plus years- the first thing that you would need to do is assess your home environment and consult you local Department of Children and Family Services for the laws that regulate childcare in your area. (Even if you are not seeking a license, there are still guidelines) Also check with your city to check their guidelines- different places say different things- next you will need to get some certifications such as CPR/ First Aid, and one quick workshop related to in-home care would be helpful- check your local Child Care Resource and Referral Agency for info. Good Luck!

Have a list of days you need off prepared for the families like holidays, vacation so that they can be prepared. Backup is nice to have prepared if needed. With pay worked out already. Great for when you get sick and can't give much notice.

Also, my day care provides diapers, wipes, food so that no bag is needed in the busy mornings. Formula given when needed that they prepare during the day. At start you give extra clothes and bottles marked for your child.

Makes drop off and pick up very easy.

Good luck
