If someone is depressed, and they tell their doctor what they are feeling, the symptoms, what will the doctor do? Will they do weird tests?

At a guess, I would say you are worried about having to go through a lot of tests, huh?

Let me put your mind at ease. I was diagnosed with chemical depression about 8 years ago, and when I told my doctor, he had me do a blood test to narrow the field of medications I might not be able to tolerate, and then began prescribing antidepressants.

I say he began prescribing antidepressants because at first it's a hit-or-miss with what will work. You may have side affects from one med, or not have any affects at all, or you might hit it right the first go around.

I went through 5 different meds before landing with Wellbutrin. The first three had side effects, the fourth caused my depression to become dangerously unstable- yes, that is a possible side effect of antidepressants. They can have the opposite affect you desire. It all depends on your chemistry.

Anyway, you don't go through a battery of tests, other than a simple blood test. He may also recommend counseling. I would also.

I hope you get better.

They wont do any weird tests.. they wont make you bend over and cough or anything like that.. they will most likely ask you a couple of standard questions. Based on your answers and reactions they might refer you to a counsellor or put you on medication.

No weird test only questions that you should answer truthfully. I have been treated for years .It helps to talk to people .

No. They will usually recommend a therapist or prescribe an anti-depressive drug.

no. But they may refer them to a psychiatrist who simply talks to the patient to determine their status.
