Where are the best places to buy malt extract? Do grocery stores typically have it?

I want to try to start brewing my own beer. Trying to avoid buying online because i dont want huge quantities of stuff at first, and the shipping costs go up in a hurry when youre dealing with heavy stuff like liquid malt. The nearest home brewing store ive located is about 100 miles away from me, anyone know if liquor stores or any major grocery chains or places like walmart/super targets carry that kind of stuff? what section do you look in?

To be honest, I don't think Wal-mart or Target has that type of stuff. You can try a local health food store.

Also, you can call the brew store to see if they have a suggestion or if they know of any brew clubs closer to you. Brew clubs can be a source of the malt, plus if you become a member you can get advice from the members.
