wedding ring finger?

i was wondering why we place the wedding ring on the left ring finger? and also where does the engagement ring get placed?

We place them on the left ring finger because a vein runs straight to your heart from your left ring finger. The engagement ring is on the outside of your finger (you can slide it off first) and your band goes on the inside.

In the old times, it was believed that there was a vein running from the ring finger on the left hand to the heart. In some countries, the wedding band is worn on the right hand (Russia, for example). I wear my wedding band on the left hand, and my engagement ring on the right, as they don't match.
