Respond accordingly to the situation arising.
If your dad currently have a bad marriage or no longer have a wife, then why not?!
If your dad currently have a good wife & a good marriage, what is he thinking?!
It all depends on the situation. Many other factors involved too, which includes:
1. Reasons for him getting a gf
2. Age of gf - It's normally a concern for dad's children
3. Intention of getting married or not

things like that can be rough and it will take some time to get used to. Sounds like you are not used to the idea yet that your dad has a gf. Just tell him how you feel.

I'm not sure how one should act. I guess it would depend on many things. Is he divorced from your mother? If so then there isn't much you can say or do to change things. I hope that you and your dad's girlfriend get along that would make the transition much easier for all involved.

Is he still married to your mom? If so, that might be a problem; if not, then no worries. Dad's need someone to feel special around, too. It does not take away from how he feels about you. Be happy for him.

Dad, so does that mean I can pick the kind of boyfriend I like, now? I mean, you didn't exactly ask me for an opinion at the time or hear what I had to say when you picked a girl or a stepmother for me, right?

That depends...is he still married to your mom? If he is single, do a little happy dance for him and give him your blessings. If still married to your mom, say nothing to her, tell him about your misgivings but try not to judge him; proceed with care.

You should be happy that your father has found someone that he can be with. It will be hard at first, but you need to think of your father's happiness too. As long as she isn't abusive to you or your father then be happy for dad.

Well if he is still married to your mom you are meant to react angrily. If he is not with your mom you are meant to get over it since he shouldnt be expected to be single forever.

react truthfully.
If you're angry, let him KNOW it, dont sulk and make him drag it out of you
If you're happy say so
This is a lesson for life, not just for this one event. Hiding your feelings does no good for anybody.

i think that he is looking for your acceptance ...not sure how old/new the breakup of your family is but, at least he is looking to you for acceptance...be patient..this is as hard on him as it is on you...how would you tell your kids that you have a GF/BF and they will most likely be spending more and more time as a couple and with you...he is testing the waters ...how are you going to be around her.. anyway...
i wish you the best of luck and please please please be patient.
