almost three months ago i met a lovely guy on here, and we hit it off straight away. i was not looking for a relationship, but it happened, we excchange emails , and then a little while later phone numbers. recently he has said that he loves me and wants to be with me, but we are so far apart, i try to be realistic but i have fallen for him...so my question is ...has anyone else been through this, how did you cope with the distance and did it all work out in the end..thanks in advance.

Hey...I met my bf in a chat room. We intsant msg, and chatted for abt 3 months. And we fell in love. He lives in India and I'm from the US. I went to see him last November and now I'm back for good. We're going to spend the rest of our lives together, so YES!!! it s possible. best of luck!

That's scary! To have met someone completely online and say you've fallen for eachother is rough. I don't want to say that either one of you aren't genuinely the person you make yourself out to be....but this guy only has to worry about being Mr. Right over the internet or the phone. He could be completely different in person. I'd keep your gaurd up and really try to stay realistic (as you've already mentioned) and keep it on a friend level and find someone close to home.

long distance relationships are one of the hardest to handle. You have to patient and understanding. But it is equally as hard for a long distance relationship to come to be a closer one. because then you see the person more often. then you learn there real habits bad and good.
My son had a relationship which started while they were a senior in high school. went to a distant relationship for a year and then became a close one.
It worked for them because they had communication. It worked for them because they had patients. long distance relationships can work but when you get closer. It can change.

Internet love rarely works. Have you met this guy face to face yet? Please be careful.
My next door neighbor met a guy on MySpace a few months ago. Her story is similar to yours. Eventually he asked her to marry him. He told her he was coming to pick her up (across country) and they were going on a cruise. They were to be married on the cruise ship. Then they would to to the state he lived in and live in the new home he was supposedly having built for the two of them. Well, in the weeks prior to the wedding date she quit her job and worked so hard to pack up everything she owned getting ready to move. She even sold part of her furniture and other belongings thinking that there would be no need for them to have 2 households worth of furniture. She said her goodbyes to everyone because the guy was to be at her house at 4:00 am the next morning to pick her up and they would go away and live happily ever after.
Guess what .....
the guy never showed up and she never heard from him again. This girl was ans still is devastated.

I have a friend who met his wife online-she was from Brazil lives here now. He is happy last I talked to him.
Myself, I never had any luck online. All the guys I ever talked to within 3-60 minutes wanted me send them naked pictures or cyber sex with me. I could never get one to actually have a decent conversation with me very long, oh they would pretend at first to be real men(not perverts wanting to get free porn or a girl to talk dirty to them).
After that I checked out other countries, they wanted the same thing but were better with words. The ones who didn't wanted money or a green card & place to live when I brought them to America.
Sure you your luck is better than mine.

I suggest you meet him first. Sometimes sparks flew on net but in person, they simply are non existent. Yea Im having a long distance rship right now. It works for me coz I never like a guy breathing down my neck anyways. hahaha... I love my independence and time with my friends and knowing he s there thinking of me.
Trust is an issue you have to deal with. I trust my bf coz he aced all my tests and let me tell me, Im not easy to be with. Ive known him for a year plus and met him before we are in a rship. You just have to see the positive side of it. For my case, aside from figuring out how he cld come to work here or me, over there, we plan vacation in advance, to meet in certain country for a romantic vacation. That helps us going.
I chat with him almost everyday unless we are out with friends or too tired. We work out the 6hr difference time issue.
If you have fallen for him sweetheart, go work it out. I believe it can work. To me personally, its a win-win situation. I have my life and him. I used to date a commercial diver before for nearly 3 yrs (guess I got my training from there hahah) and he always has to work overseas for two to 3 mths everytime.
