Yes and no. See, the wiring and the dog bone joints may or may not be compatible with the older ones. However, mechanically, the newer engine and tranny would still be able to fit inside the engine/transmission compartment as they were designed to hold up to a 3.6 liter V6 engine with either manual or automatic transmission. What you may have to do is get a wiring harness adapter kit OR replace the older wiring harness with a totally new one from the new car! Don't forget to change out the old electronic control module with the new one. The older one won't have the same programing as the new one will, despite the fact that the newer one WILL run the older engines just as well if not better than the older e.c.m. would! Remember: You're working with a newer J-body cars' engine for an older J-body car! If you need to, almost any J-body car engine will work in another! Same for the transmissions too!
