There was a story of a German priest at the time of the Reformation that would pray while on the toilet. He was approached by the devil and chastised for doing so.
His response was "why do you chastise me? Everything that comes out of my mouth is for God, and everything that comes out the other end is for you..."
I'm sure the original German was much more colourful in its descriptions :)

I once had someone tell me "you don't need to go to church to pray to God...you could use your toilet seat as an altar because God hears us no matter where we are."
So you just go ahead and read wherever you like.
