This was sold in a grocery chain which closed down about 5 years ago. The store distributed it. It was a sweet sauce not very smoky at all. Does some other company market one like it?? Or do yopu have a recipe that is like it??

Bear-Man Barbecue and Dipping Sauces were created by "Bear-Man" Barry Conway in upstate New York. Black Bear Boogie is a thick sauce full of bits of onion and other fresh ingredients, giving it a tongue-pleasing texture and a sweet-tart taste with just a bit of a peppery kick. What makes Black Bear Boogie unique, however, is the splash of beer added to the tomato base, giving the sauce a savory tang. Black Bear Boogie is quite tasty on all of your typical barbecue meats and poultry, but its big and bold flavor is particularly good for venison and other game. If you're looking for a full-bodied BBQ sauce that'll stick to your food but isn't cloyingly sweet or smoky, then you've found your answer in Bear-Man Black Bear Boogie!

I worked at Big Bear Stores for 28 years. I remember that the recipe was a family recipe of the founder of Big Bear Stores. His last name was Brown, but I can't think of his first name right now. He died in 1981 and the company went downhill from there. I've tried many brands, but the closest I've found to that flavor is Sweet Baby Ray's Honey Barbecue sauce. You have to get the HONEY. The other flavors are different. It's a little more spicey, but there is something similar to the flavor of Big Bear's, but there was nothing like the taste and texture of Big Bear's barbecue sauce. It was the best in my estimation. If you run across the recipe, please post, as I will do the same.
