We don't intentionally target women and children.
There's your difference, chief.

As an Iraqi conflict vet i will regrettably inform you which you have been grossly misinformed. Air strikes are very efficient, precise and purely utilized especially circumstances. Raids positioned us at a plenty greater danger to be a casualty and regrettably that's how we carry out maximum of our missions. i might advise you come across a clean source of innovations. in case you utilize the media that's a great mistake. occasion, the Iraqi human beings, for the main section love us and what we are doing there. I certainly have some pictures of the locals giving us hugs and intense 5's. The media leads you to have confidence in any different case, in maximum circumstances. additionally the civilian deaths led to via the U. S. are so very minimum. conflict is hell and loss of life is the end bring about case you're harmless or a combatant. you ought to no longer even study WW2 to Operation Iraqi Freedom, it is not EVEN A conflict! 2 diverse battles, procedures, much less worldwide places and persons in touch, international domination no longer in play and diverse technologies. For you being a self proclaimed, historian, i'm surprised at how unintelligent you come returned in the time of. For the calling me a coward section, why do no longer you grab an M-sixteen, go over there and teach us all how this is finished! once you're making it returned in a million piece i will call you a coward after which you will tell me the way you experience. God Bless

Women and children are ONLY killed when cowardly insurgents hide behind them. Check the Geneva convention - it says you can't use civilians as shields.
The Rules of Engagement say every effort will be made to avoid killing civilians, but at the same time commanders are allowed to use sufficent force neccesary to negate a threat. If an insurgent is killing us from inside a barricaded building, and we have to blow up the building to negate the threat, then it's HIS fault - not ours - if there happened to be innocent civilians in the building. The US never purposefully targets civilians. That's the difference between us and the insurgents.
I don't think war should be fair - the whole concept is that the better equipped force should win. Using your logic, a boxer who gets to train a little more or who has a better nutritionist has an unfair advantage - oh my! But I do think warriors should not be cowardly in their fighting. If an insurgent drives a car into a crowded market and blows it up, purposefully killing women and children - that's cowardly.
You are arguing against US actions, when the US goes out of its way to protect civilians. How many questions have you posted condemning these cowardly, cruel, against the Geneva convention acts of the insurgents?

I will admit, women and children have died as a result of American military action, what you fail to realize, kiddo, is that the US does not target these people, we do everything we can to avoid innocent casualties. Do you have any idea what it feels like to know you just put 3 25mm HE-DP rounds into a tractor that's carrying a couple children and also a few people carrying anti-armor weapons that could kill you. When it comes down to it, you could never make that call, you don't have what it takes to make a decision and live with it.
How dare you criticize what you don't have the guts to do yourself. The people in our armed forces put their lives on the line every day to give you the freedom you have right now, so that you can come on here and post anti-American remarks. In MY opinion, YOU are the coward, do have any concept of how privileged you are to live in this country? To live where you Can believe what you want and do what you want, so long as it does not infringe on the rights of others.
Until you have to live with the regret of knowing that you ended a child's life, the pain that stays in your heart forever because you know you ended a life before that child had any real chance in life, and the confusion of how you can do that, and still come home and want nothing more than to keep your own child safe, you have NO place to stand and criticize those who have. So don't sit on your High Horse and preach to me, or anyone, about whats fair in life and what isn't, don't you lecture me on who is a coward and who isn't, and don't you ever dare degrade those who give every once of their souls, who leave their families for over a year to make sure that you will never have to know the hell of those less fortunate than citizens of the US. Maybe you should enlist in the military and go to war, and fight for your life, and fight for the freedom of those back home, MAYBE then, you will understand how good life is here, and how much it hurts to know you have taken a life, especially that of a non-combatant.
Now, go off and do whatever you want, go to the store, go get a hamburger, you have that freedom, so use it. And on behalf of those who are fighting in the desert and across the world, I say this:
Thank You. Thank you for using this freedom you have, thank you for using the freedom that so many have died for, and that so Many more will fight for, knowing they may be the next to die. Because in your free use of anti-American remarks, and you hiding behind the "its a free country" saying, you have made their deaths not in vain, you have showed what they have died to give you, so, again I say Thank You. While you wait at home, we will be here, ever vigilant, to protect you from the dangers world wide, so that you may have and continue to live a free and comfortable life.

At one time in our history we were the terrorists, who used a new and unfair tactic to combat the hardened British. We didn't fight fair according to their way of thinking and we won.
All wars kill noncombatants if not immediately with guns and bullets, then long term with illness and starvation.
A bomb is pretty useless unless you have something to hit. That's why Afghanistan was dumb, no targets, and we never found the one man we supposedly went in to kill. At least we had a recognized reason for going there and beating back the Taliban at least for a while was a good thing..
Killing someone with a rock, leaves them just as dead
War and humanity seem to have been created at about the same time, it never solves anything or we would have outgrown it as a method of problem solving, so I assume it satisfies some deep need of humanity and whether you are killing with rocks or jets, its the same primitive need being satisfied.

The nature of asymmetric warfare (as in one side grossly overmatches the other side) is that the other side has to do something to make up the difference. In the case of our current enemy, they use low-technology alternatives such as IEDs, they hide amongst the populace, and they do many things that non-military types consider to be underhanded.
Those of us who are warfighters, however, (should) recognize the threat that asymmetric warfare poses upon our troops and should be working to overcome that threat.
A large part of the problem is that we are not used to fighting this kind of enemy. I have been in the military for 17 years...I joined at the end of the cold war when our mission in Germany was winding down...Even the most sophisticated military minds would have had a hard time envisioning us stuck in Iraq the way we are. Remember, Colin Powell and Daddy Bush had enough foresight to realize that if we break Bagdhad, we own Bagdhad.
As continue to evolve our forces into one that is geard not toward fighting in the forests of Europe, but rather the streets of Bagdhad, we will do a better job at neutralizing the threat of the unconventional tactics that the insurgents are using.

Ha, and all women and children are innocent, correct? I cant help but wonder when you people are going to get in your f*ucking heads that this is a war in which we are not just fighting a uniform and it's not only men who are our enemy. At least when we kill people know when the f*uck we're coming.
The terrorists are cowards, and the only way they will defeat us in Iraq is the way they currently are... by relying on the political correctness of the united states and that the civilians dont understand anything except when the media brain washes them with. If we were able to fight this war like it was an actual war, we would have one by now. But it's stupid people like you that dont understand and push the government to be politically correct.
Sadly, my husband is leaving for Anabar Provence, Iraq in 3 months (we only were told this two days ago) to defend your right to b*itch about something you know nothing about. At least if you're going to be ignorant, I hope you're thankful for your freedom.

That gives us all the reason not to vote republican in 2008. They all think the same and feel that harming innocent people for their self gain is not wrong. They are borderline sociopaths. They use deception just like satan, to distort everyone else from the truth. Take the reasons why we went to war with iraq for example. They change the reason why we are there to the situation. And now the funniest thing is that halliburton has moved to dubai. Gas prices have doubled since they stole office, and they have divided our country insted of unite us. And they still, nomatter what happens think they are doing the right thing. Yet they still havent caught the worlds most wanted terrorist that attacked our country. Us not solving anything domestically, or finding a solution to the two wars and suffering the republicans inflict on innocent people, only fuels the hatred for our country any more. And doesnt solve anything. But for some reason they still think they are right, .....or just dont care.Sociopathic.

Sheesh are you really that...? Terrorists don't wear uniforms, they hide among their countrymen (whom they kill indiscriminately), wear WOMEN'S CLOTHES to get by our military. They threaten their own countrymen with death if they don't help the terrorists. Our military does NOT go out looking to kill innocent men/women/children, regardless of what some rectal-cranial inbred told you. In any war, innocent by-standers are wounded/killed.
Do OUR military go blow up buses and market places indiscriminately? Of course not!
What the terrorists are doing is like if the BAPTISTS went out and indiscriminately kill a bunch of METHODISTS and anyone else who was around.

Hmm I've recently changed my mind about the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The reasons behind going in weren't so bad, it just didn't seem to be well thought out to completion. The USA should've pulled out of both by now and the countries should be building, instead they have huge inner turmoil. It's poor investing I think, poor investing in poor planning.
As for the tech used, again it could've been used better, for all their information gathering abilities it sure took them forever to get Saddam. The tech is also being poorly used now, it didn't seem initially well applied for urban combat.
As for US as terrorists, I think they did what was necessary for it's time, now a bigger counterculture is forming. There are always casualties in wars, the US is keeping it as contained as possible I think. If they wanted to terrorize they would simply use Nukes to wipe the country and devastate it's people, however they realize that the people do not need to be wiped off the land, but the extremists do.
However it would be better if they spent the money to help the people of Iraq and Afghanistan to fight their own terrorists and reestablish their culture and rule free of Western influence. They're better equipped to deal with it, they'll likely kill less women in children as you put it.

you for get a few tiny details. Like the Hezbollah making the women and children live right where the weapons were stored. So they got bombed. Well too bad. That is the Hezbollah's fault, not ours. In war civilians always get killed. You do not seem overly sad about the women in the twin towers in New York. But they got killed by cowardly terrorists. What were they doing wrong. You would rather we sent children and others out with bombs strapped to themselves loaded with shrapnel to tear apart innocent people out shopping or having lunch. Good lord man, get a grip on reality.
