If his family can't afford a big rehearsal dinner, I think a small gathering in your hotel room sounds like a great idea. Nobody needs to know that it's you putting it on instead of his family hosting it as the rehearsal dinner.
May God bless and you and keep you all the years of your marriage.

I'm a non-traditionalist when it comes to wedding stuff. Probably because I'm a guy. Bear that in mind.
I think that it sounds like a more personal and more special idea than some public restaurant. It will allow the fiancee's family to participate and not feel bad. Say that it's a more personal thing and that's what you want for the night before. No one can really argue with that. Good luck!

I think that sounds like a good idea! A pre wedding cocktail party in your room with some snacks would be a great time for you and your finace to 'toast' the wedding party and let them know how much you appreciate them traveling for your wedding....it could also be a good time to give them their gifts for being in your bridal party.

Do what you can and enjoy it--all these so-called traditions are supposed to make your wedding enjoyable, memorable and fun--if it becomes a stressor--just modify or change it up--do what you feel is most convenient and fun for all of you--your plan--if it works for you--fine--just check in with all the other persons concerned to make sure you are all on the same page...

See if the hotel will let you use a lounge or part of one. Your room would have to be very large for all those people.
