press the tab button on your keyboard (the one with the two arrows going in opposite directions) or you could just press space bar a few times before writing the next word

Three possibilities here:

Adjust the space between each character (called Kerning): Select the text you want to change (Edit-Select All) and choose Format-Font and click on the tab that says Character Spacing - click on Kerning and type in the smallest font size your document is using.

Adjust the alignment:
if you have Justify selected (instead of left) the end of the paragraph will be even but the spacing between the words will be big or small. If you are using lots of longer words you may need to adjust the hypenation click on Tools-Language and select Hypenation. Click on the automtically Hypenate document and click OK.

Increase or decrease the space between lines:
click on Format-Paragraph and change the spacing - if you want to get rid of all extra space between lines, make sure Before and After are set to 0 pt and line spacing is set to 1. To increase the line spacing just increase the pt size (6 pt = a half a line, 12 pt = 1 line, etc.). Click on OK.
