Either the "Terrorists" are complete idiots or Politicians are just using this thing as a power grab. Anyone can cross our borders with anything they want including bad weapons , yet its been over 5 years since 9-11 and we have not had any suicide bombings, ect. ect. ect. that is commonplace in the Middle East. This tells me that the threat is way overstated or our wonderful Government somehow magically found the competence to neutrallize the threat of attacks while maintaining a border that allows things like drugs and any kind of illegal alien from anywhere to come and go as they please. George doesnt exactly impress me as being all that smart.

It has now been 11 hours since I asked this question and nobody has dared to answer it. Perhaps my next question should be "Should we be afraid that Big Brother is monitoring everything we do and say and will retaliate against anyone who excercises free speech and utters politically incorrect words?"

I think your complacence is dangerous - the world is still fighting in afghanistan to gain control of this very elusive enemy - there were certain things done in african nations as well to disrupt organizations who would have sent people over to kill us - certain countries in the middle east have changed (not a lot) the way they govern their countries to appease a rising tide of dissatisfaction - Pakistan another country with strong ties to terrorism and nuclear proliferation is under very close watch - (I think maybe we've brought friends close but enemies closer on this one ). And it is probably relatively easy to monitor muslim males between the ages of 18-40 in the U.S. and all contacts with them .Also dont you think south american countries are watching who flys into their predominantly catholic countries with the help of interpol and such - the worlds eyes are open to the threat just as ours are .all of this is done because 3000 people were burned and crushed in 2 buildings not just americans but people from around the world.

The war on terror is a fiction. So many think we invaded Iraq as part of the war on terror and no matter how much it is explained to them that that is not so they don't get it.

We went into Afghanastan to search them out but they had already left. Years later we are still in Afghanastan.

Where are we fighting the war on terror now? At our borders? We can't even keep the drugs out and we expect to keep terrorists out. One hell of a lot of Americans will die or have their lives ruined by drugs than any terrorist plot from inside or outside the US.

Yes. Each side has taken a politically-opposite view and has pursued that view for political gain.
