Smoke tail lights for the Durango are available on eBay if you want them. They can come and go, so check often but I know I have seen them there within ther past 2 weeks. Yes, smoked lights (head lights or tail lights) are illegal in ths US. I would say in every state but I'm not 100% on that. I do know the majority of the states don't allow them although people do it anyways. On that note, are they legal in Germany? I was stationed in Germany and, at least when I was there, they were very strict on vehicle lighting. Regardless, you can count on those lights being illegal in the states even if they bare the DOT info them. That just means the DOT (Federal) says they meet impact, reflective and size requirements.

Here is the site for the smoke front and rear lights.

Someone talking up their rear end again. Smoke is a color. They could have used soft dark gray for all the matters. What is illegal is to use those front clip on black covers. At night your lights would not penetrate thru them sufficiently. Also they are used in daylight off terrain riding to protect the lights from mud and bushes.

But the "smoke" color does not impede nor block the lightbult like the black headlight covers would.

If you can drive with chrome you can drive with smoke (and I do not mean the illegal kind of smoke (marijuana) either. lol
